Pre-Budget Statement Nov 2008

The pre-budget statement delivered by the Chancellor Alistair Darling had little to do with the welfare or indeed the wealth fair of the UK electorate; it was about the self interest of the same old, same old, Labour party.

No doubt the P.M. & his Chancellor will once again dither between a Nero or Pontius Pilot approach in true Romanesque style, either fiddling (including the figure for National Debt) whilst GB burns or washing their hands of any guilt, nothing new there then?

The one message from the statement everyone seemed to miss was 6000 jobs were to be created at UK Jobcentres, the message being that Brown/Darling had failed completely & the already high unemployment in the private sector was expected to climb even further from these proposals, conversely the continued growth in the public sector creates the need for more borrowing to service the missing £1 trillion needed to fund the fabulous public sector pension scheme.

Gordon Brown seems so smugly proud of a national pension (OAP) that delivers £90/wk for the over 65’s but obviously not as proud as the public sector who are now beginning to retire in their forties on final salary pension schemes with 89% to 93% of it funded from the taxpayer.

If the government really want to resolve the UK economic difficulties, they need a combination of a clear head & balls sadly the Labour cabinet has this in name only.
