Bill Gates To take a back seat at Microsoft
The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates is removing himself from a full time role with the giant Microsoft corporation.
He continues as chairman in a part-time role, His decision revolves around his work with his family charity the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Mr. Gates began Microsoft in 1975, eventually going public in 1986 after providing systems to major IT companies in the early 1980’s.
The company’s growth continued at pace, with Microsoft systems dominating the computer world.
Microsoft's continued updating of its operating systems including the latest Vista have usually led to some criticism as the users find their way round the new systems, eventually accepting the new versions are an improvement, and of course no technology can ‘stand still’.
However Microsoft’s attempts to takeover Yahoo were put on hold as agreement on price became too difficult to resolve.
As their markets become even more competitive it will be interesting to see if Mr. Gate’s decision is to have a detrimental effect or if the industries major player will as usual take all within its stride.
On thing is for certain Mr. Gates must take a massive bow for his contribution to the computer/IT industry & even more so the growth of the world's economy in which Microsoft has been instrumental. |
