EMI Chairman Guy Hands may bid for Chrysalis music.
Hands, Terra Firma private equity firm bought EMI last year, may face competition for Chrysalis as they may have have also received an indicative bid from Warner Chappell, part of Warner Music.
Chrysalis, the label for Blondie, David Bowie, etc has been the subject of some speculation since it sold its radio assets.
There has been some speculation regarding music giants Universal and Warner.
Neither EMI or Chrysalis were available for comment.
