Proposal for Councillors to be offered Pensions and Parachute Payments when losing seat.
The political class have once again shown their arrogance in proposing their pals in local government can continue to travel on gravy train.
Seemingly it is deemed fair and reasonable those who the electorate deem failures and affirm by voting them out at local elections should now be rewarded for their futile and unsuccessful tenure as councillors.
The proposed parachute payments for softening the landing when falling from the gravy train will be backed by pensions and no doubt appointment to some quango or another, will there be enough quango’s to go round or will new ones be required.
The odd thing about these proposals is that councillors are paid expenses, as expenses are not part of any salary or regarded as earnings a pension cannot be paid based on them, expenses are exactly what the word implies, costs incurred whilst tasks are undertaken. As these tasks are no longer undertaken once the councillor leaves office then there is no need for further payment or indeed “pension”.
The political cats just get fatter and fatter. |
